Deepika Padukone, born 5 January 1986 in Copenhagen, Denmark. She is the most celebrated Indian model and an upcoming actress. She is the daughter of former badminton Champion Prakash Padukone. Her mother tongue is Konkani. Her lineage hails from Padukone village in Kundapura Taluk in the Udupi District of the southern state of Karnataka. Deepika Padukone entered film industry with a Kannada film, "Aishwarya" in 2006 starring opposite Kannada hero, Upendra. She has appeared in several print and television commercials like Liril, Limca, Dabur Lal powder, Jewels of India and Close-up. She also appeared in the 2006 Kingfisher Swimsuit Calendar. She later made a successful Bollywood debut in 2007 with Farah Khan's blockbuster Om Shanti Om opposite bollywood star Shahrukh Khan.
